« La démarche de Laurent Saïet n’est pas seulement originale; elle témoigne d’une culture aussi cinématographique que musicale. Douze grands maîtres du septième art se trouvent ici “réinterprétés” ou plutôt retravaillés avec humour, respect, distance et délicatesse, sans qu’il ne s’agisse jamais de simples samples ou plagiats. David Lynch, ainsi, ne se réfère pas explicitement à Badalamenti ni Sergio Leone à Ennio Morricone, mais… l’esprit des films de l’un et de l’autre sont magnifiquement retranscrits et le résultat est en tout point convaincant. Cette libre interprétation musicale est un magnifique hommage aux précités et à Hitchcock, Ray, Egoyan, Cronenberg, Wenders, Scorsese,Lang, Carpenter ou Kar-Wai. Je voudrais en quelques mots citer l’exceptionnelle intelligence du morceau consacré à Murnau, avec cette association étonnante de contrebasse, mellotron, violon, piano et ordinateur.
