Wow! What's the album!
I think - it's one of the best album of the post(?)-pandemic 2021 year!
Laurent meets Prophet Qa-Spel (and other persons) walking through the road of psychedelic sounds.
Chapeau bas! And ... I like it!
Favorite track: FROM THE ROCKS (feat. Edward Ka-Spel).

listened to whole album tonight on a walk along the river Lagan- a dusk that went on for ever(longest day of the year) and the PERFECT soundtrack. Thanks, Laurent and all collaborators.
Favorite track: HELL RIDE.
With his eighth album for Trace Label, Laurent Saïet takes a new start : after several projects essentially realized alone, he makes his decision to stand up for a close cooperation with several distinguished guests with who he co-signed the major part of « After The Wave » tracks. This album, began shortly before the first lockdown in France, takes indirectly its source of inspiration during the pandemic period. After recorded the basic tracks essentially on the Mellotron, Laurent Saïet had proposed to the other musicians to provide their respective worlds on the project. For example, Edward Ka-Spel (Legendary Pink Dots) have written 2 songs lyrics he specially sang on the album.
Thierry Müller (Ilitch, Ruth) plays synthesizers on another track, and Quentin Rollet (Prohibition, Nurse With Wound) improvised great saxophone parts on 6 tracks and play the Monotron on another one. Paul Percheron (Stamp) is a young drummer who brings all his energy and rhythmic invention to the major part of the album. And Ben Ritter (Begin Says), Laurent Saïet’s old fellow musical traveller, provides lyrics and his voice on one track and plays clarinet on another one. The result is an album mixing musical genres (post-rock, jazz, dark ambient, etc…) and fascinating, but never identical atmospheres, alternately songs and high-quality instrumentals. Titles tracks and lyrics are very evocative of these uncertain times. After The Wave is presented in a 3 pages’s cardboard sleeve, illustrated by a series of baroque collages created by Thierry Müller.

This is unexpectedly becoming one of my favorite Dots releases, period, along with Malachai and several other late ‘80s-‘90s highlights (my favorite LPD era). So happy to see some last copies of the gorgeous-looking LP on Bandcamp after making the mistake of not buying at the SF show. Walter Campbell

Up there with Chyekk, Tanith, Albion... Looping this back-to-back with Songs of Solitude and dancing my ass off! (Sorry I lost my original comments b/c I closed my Bandcamp account in a pet over constant reCAPTCHA obstruction. It preserved my purchases but not comments.) So much incredible music from this artist even since this recent release! sun-dappled-dacy
